Accessibility
Last updated: April 26, 2026.
Our commitment
Stovyn is built so that everyone — including people with disabilities — can use our product, our website, and our mobile applications safely and effectively. We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA for our digital surfaces, and we apply equivalent standards to our hardware design and packaging.
Standards we work toward
- --United States: Section 508 (federal procurement), ADA Title III (places of public accommodation including websites), and the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act for ICT products.
- --Canada: Accessible Canada Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) for Ontario customers.
- --Mexico: Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-008-SCT2/2019 considerations and the Federal Law on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
- --India: Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
- --European Union (where we ship): European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882).
Accessibility features today
- ·Multi-channel alerts: visual (app and dashboard), audible (built-in speaker), tactile (push-notification haptics on phone), and SMS escalation. A customer with a single sensory impairment will still receive at least two redundant signals.
- ·High-contrast UI mode follows the operating system's setting; respects "reduce motion" and "increase text size" preferences.
- ·Adjustable detection sensitivity (Low / Medium / High) for customers who may need earlier alerts due to mobility or cognitive differences.
- ·Trusted-contact escalation so a caregiver or family member can be notified if the customer doesn't acknowledge an alert within a configurable window.
- ·Mobile applications support VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) for screen-reader users. Touch targets meet a minimum 44×44 pt size on critical actions.
- ·14-language interface localization across the website and applications.
Known limitations
We're transparent about what we haven't perfected yet:
- --Some animated illustrations on marketing pages do not yet have prefers-reduced-motion equivalents. Workaround: reduce-motion at the OS level disables the most aggressive animations.
- --The dashboard's recharts-based historical charts are visual; we have not yet shipped a tabular alternative for screen-reader users. We are working on this.
- --The hardware setup wizard relies on visually identifying burners on the stovetop. A non-visual setup path (verbal description or pre-fab layouts) is on the roadmap.
