No. There is no continuous cloud video stream. The Pro camera captures event snapshots that our cloud AI checks for cooking risks; we keep only the result, not your images. The app may show an authenticated local preview or those snapshots so you can review what triggered an alert. The web dashboard does not stream camera video. Standard has no camera. On Pro, a software Camera Privacy Off toggle in the app fully disables the camera.

No subscription is required for the core safety path: the device speaker, app push alerts, and trusted-contact alerts (where enabled and supported) all work on the one-time purchase. A subscription unlocks cloud extras like extended history, exports, and property-manager dashboards. Firmware safety updates are included. The first year of the cloud subscription is free for early customers.

The device runs on its own battery, so a brief power outage does not disable it. If your router or internet drops, the speaker still beeps locally, but phone notifications and SMS pause until it returns. Always keep certified smoke and CO alarms in your kitchen as primary safety devices.

Standard lasts an estimated up to 6 weeks, and Pro (camera) up to 4 weeks, at about 4 hours of cooking a day (a design target we are still confirming with testing). Heavy cooking, weak Wi-Fi, or always-on camera detection shortens this. USB-C charges fully in about 2 hours, and you get a 7-day low-battery notice in the app and from the speaker.

No. Stovyn does not contact emergency services. If you do not respond to alerts, it escalates to up to 5 trusted contacts via SMS (TCPA-compliant consent required). In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Stovyn is a monitoring device, not a certified safety device; always pair it with a UL 217 smoke alarm.
