Smart sensing built in.

Whistle detection plus per-burner thermal tracking come standard. No camera required.

Whistle Detection

Acoustic sensors analyze frequency peaks on-device to detect tea kettle whistles and alarm tones. Only the peak value is used · raw audio is never saved or uploaded.

  • Tea kettle whistle recognition
  • Smoke and CO alarm detection
  • On-device FFT analysis · frequency peaks only
  • No audio recording, no streaming, mic can be disabled

Multi-Burner Thermal Tracking

Per-burner ROI sampling lets Stovyn tell which burner is active, so alerts and the home-screen widget reflect exactly what's hot. Calibration learns your stove layout so the live view matches what's in front of you.

  • Per-burner active-state detection
  • Live temperature per burner
  • Calibration learns your stove layout
  • Works with gas, electric, and induction

Wave to dismiss. No phone needed.

When Stovyn alerts you and you're standing right at the stove, just wave your hand. The reminder dismisses. The escalation timer resets. Your phone stays in your pocket.

How it works on Standard

The thermal sensor watches for a moving warm-blob — your hand passing through its field of view creates a clear delta in the 32×24 thermal frame. Stovyn reads that as "I'm physically here" and resets the alert clock.

Range and reliability

Standard model: best within ~18 inches of the device — about an arm's length while you're at the stovetop. Treat it as a best-effort shortcut, not a guarantee — if a wave doesn't register, the "I'm here" tap on your phone always works. For full-kitchen-range hand-wave, the Pro model uses an on-device camera.

Privacy by design

Wave detection runs on-device. Standard model uses thermal data only — there's literally no camera. Nothing about this feature streams or stores anything.

Hand-wave dismiss is opt-in. Toggle it from Settings → Emergency Services in the app. You can still tap "I'm here" on your phone — both work.

Privacy-first Whistle Detection.

Whistle detection only · we analyze sound frequencies on-device and discard audio (no voice recording, no streaming).

Stovyn converts sound into a simple frequency peak (like 3.1 kHz) to trigger alerts. Only the peak value is used · raw audio is never saved or uploaded.

  • No voice recording

Audio is processed locally and discarded immediately.

  • No audio uploads

Only a "whistle detected" event (timestamp + peak frequency) is sent.

  • User-tunable

Choose which sound band to detect in the app (Kettle / Cooker / Custom).

In the app, select: Kettle / Cooker / Custom range — set sensitivity — get alerts.

Raw audio: not stored

We detect only the strongest frequency peak in the selected band · not speech content.

On-device processingEvent-only alertsMic can be disabled

Detects whistle tones, not conversations · frequency peaks only.

Kitchen Alert Types

Current capability and planned future additions.

Available Now

Unattended Cooking

Thermal detects burner heat patterns + time on heat.

Planned

Gas / CO Warning

Planned module to detect gas/CO near stove and notify you early.

Future

Smoke / Fire Risk

Future ecosystem layer for smoke/particle/rapid heat rise detection and alert escalation.

Future Safety Sensors

Roadmap

Optional module planned for future hardware revisions. Not available in current products.

Gas Leak Detection (LPG / Propane-Butane)

Planned

Planned to detect if gas is present near the stove area and notify you early.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detection

Planned

Planned to notify if unsafe combustion gases may be present.

Faster Early Warning Than Smoke

Gas/CO can be detected before smoke spreads far enough to trigger alarms placed away from the kitchen.

Important: These features are planned for a future hardware revision and are not available in any current Stovyn product. Availability, timeline, and certifications may vary by region. Stovyn provides alerts to support safer cooking habits. It does not replace safety devices such as smoke alarms, CO detectors, or gas sensors.

Example Notifications

Clear, actionable alerts designed to help you respond quickly.

Possible LPG leak detected near stove

Future

Please check burner knobs and ventilate the kitchen.

CO level may be unsafe

Future

Ventilate immediately and ensure burners are off.

Heat has been ON for too long

Active

Tap to start timer or alert a family member.

Kettle whistle detected

Active

Your tea kettle may be ready. Check your stove.

These are example notifications. Actual alerts may vary based on your device configuration and settings. Stovyn provides alerts to support safer cooking habits and does not replace certified safety devices or emergency services.
