Sensors track heat across every burner with low-power checks, sampling faster when things heat up. Set Low, Medium, or High sensitivity to control how fast Stovyn reacts.

Whistle detection
The microphone picks out frequency peaks on the device to recognise kettle whistles and alarm tones. Only the peak value is used. Raw audio is never saved or uploaded.

Planned feature
Wave to dismiss.
Hand-wave dismiss is planned for Standard. When it ships, a wave within arm’s length will clear an alert without reaching for the phone. The "I’m here" tap in the app stays as the fallback.
How it would work on Standard
Your hand passing the sensor shows up as a moving warm spot in the 32×24 thermal frame. Detection runs on-device. We’ll ship it only once the false-trigger rate is acceptable on the bench.
Range expectations
Standard targets gestures at about arm’s length (best-effort, not guaranteed). Pro adds an on-device camera cross-check for longer range. For now, the app tap is the supported way to acknowledge.
Privacy by design
When the feature ships, detection will run on-device. Standard uses thermal data only, with no camera. Nothing about this feature streams continuously to the cloud.
Hand-wave dismiss will be opt-in once it ships. Until then, use the "I’m here" tap from Settings, then Emergency Services in the app.
Privacy-first whistle detection.
Stovyn listens for whistle tones only. It analyses sound frequencies on the device and discards the audio. Nothing is recorded or streamed.
Stovyn turns sound into a single frequency peak, such as 3.1 kHz, and alerts on that number alone. Raw audio is never saved or uploaded.
