The Pro camera is event-triggered, not a stream. On a cooking event it captures a snapshot our cloud AI checks for risks, and we keep only the result — not your image.

Review-only access
The app may show an authenticated local preview or event snapshots for setup and review. The web dashboard does not stream camera video.
Camera-assisted context.
Pro adds a camera alongside the thermal grid for visual context. Some checks — like "stove on but no pan present" — are on the roadmap, not finished features yet.

Visual checks like "empty pan still on" or "lid left off" are on the roadmap. They ship via firmware updates once bench-validated. We won't call them today's behavior until they're real.
Camera Health IntelligencePro
Pro checks its own lens for smudges and grease in the background. It tells steam from a real smudge, so a pot of pasta won't trigger a false "wipe the lens" warning, only persistent softness over several sessions does. When it's time to wipe, the app says so. Wipe it, and the warning clears on its own.

These are example notifications. Actual alerts may vary based on your device configuration and settings. Stovyn provides alerts to support safer cooking habits and does not replace certified safety devices or emergency services.

Pro's camera looks down at your stovetop. On the roadmap: it spots when you return and resets the unattended-cooking timer on its own. Until it ships and is bench-validated, the "I'm here" tap in the app is the supported way to acknowledge.
Detects you're back
The camera watches just above the burners. When it sees a hand or someone at the stove, it cross-checks the thermal frame so a passing pet or a moving curtain doesn't trigger it. Then it resets the timer.
The alert backs off
Once you're back at the stove, the phone alerts stop and the trusted-contact chain pauses. The timer starts fresh. If you walk away again, the countdown picks up where it left off.
No video, no stored photos
The Pro AI presence check sends one event snapshot to our cloud AI, which returns only a result (e.g. "person present: yes"). No continuous video, and we don't store your photos. Thermal sensing and the core safety path stay on the device.
Camera-based auto-dismiss is off by default. Turn it on in Settings → Emergency Services. The "I'm here" tap still works the same way, this is just one less thing to do when your hands are full.
Privacy-first Whistle Detection.
Whistle detection only · we analyze sound frequencies on-device and discard audio (no voice recording, no streaming).
Stovyn converts sound into a simple frequency peak (like 3.1 kHz) to trigger alerts. Only the peak value is used · raw audio is never saved or uploaded.
