Delete your Stovyn account

You can ask Stovyn to delete your account and the data tied to it at any time. Below is exactly how to do it, what gets deleted, and what (if anything) we keep — and why.

Option 1: Delete from the app (fastest)

The fastest way. Takes under a minute. Runs immediately — no email roundtrip.

  1. 1Open the Stovyn app on your phone.
  2. 2Tap the Settings tab in the bottom navigation.
  3. 3Scroll down and tap "Privacy & Data."
  4. 4Tap "Delete account." Confirm with your password (or face/fingerprint if you signed in via Apple or Google).
  5. 5Your account is deleted within 30 seconds. You'll be signed out and returned to the welcome screen.

Option 2: Email us (if you can't access the app)

If you've uninstalled the app, can't sign in, or just prefer email, send a deletion request to:

support@stovyn.com

Include the email address you used to sign up. We respond within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days, per our privacy policy. We may ask you to confirm the request from the registered email to prevent malicious deletions.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following is permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered:

  • Your account profile (email, name, sign-in identifiers from Apple or Google)
  • All paired Stovyn devices and their nicknames
  • Trusted-contact phone numbers and consent records
  • Cooking history and event logs
  • AI inference logs tied to your account (snapshots, detected objects, timestamps)
  • Approximate location data used for geofence "leave home" alerts
  • Saved preferences (whistle sensitivity, quiet hours, notification routing, etc.)
  • Push notification tokens registered to your account

What we may retain

A small set of records may be kept for the time periods listed below, when legally required. None of these contain personally identifying information after deletion.

Anonymized usage analytics
Stripped of all identifiers. Used only to improve product reliability. Retained for up to 12 months, then permanently aggregated or deleted.
Security and abuse logs
IP addresses and request timestamps from failed sign-in attempts. Retained for up to 90 days for fraud-detection purposes, then permanently deleted.
Legal-hold records
If a deletion request arrives while a legal proceeding requires preservation of records (subpoena, court order), we retain only the records named in the order, for the duration the order requires. This is rare and only triggered by formal legal process.

A note about your Stovyn device

Deleting your account does not delete the physical Stovyn device, and any data the device stored locally on its own SD card remains on the device. If you want a fully clean slate, factory-reset the device from Device → Settings → Factory Reset in the app before deleting your account. Or, once your account is deleted, hold the reset button on the back of the device for 10 seconds to wipe its local storage.

Deletion is permanent

Once your account is deleted, we cannot restore it. Your cooking history, paired devices, trusted contacts, and saved preferences are gone forever. If you'd rather pause your account temporarily, sign out instead — your data stays put and you can sign back in any time.
