Alerts & Incidents
What's an 'incident'?
A safety-related event detected by the system (example: escalating heat trend that may require attention).
Learn moreCan I clear an incident?
Yes. You can acknowledge/clear incidents. Clearing may require adding a short note (especially for property managers).
Will it call emergency services automatically?
No. In an emergency call 911. Stovyn can show emergency guidance and help notify trusted contacts.
Can I dismiss an alert by waving my hand?
Yes — both Standard and Pro support hand-wave dismiss. When the alert fires, wave near the stove and the reminder dismisses without you touching your phone. Standard works best-effort within about 18 inches (thermal motion); if a wave doesn't register, the "I'm here" tap on your phone always works as the backup. Pro works from across the kitchen (camera + thermal). Both run on-device — no video uploaded.
Learn moreWhat if my Wi-Fi or power goes out?
Stovyn needs your home Wi-Fi to push notifications to your phone and send SMS to trusted contacts. If the router or internet drops, the device speaker still beeps locally — but remote alerts pause until connectivity returns. The device runs on its own battery, so a brief power outage doesn't disable it; if the router loses power too, plan accordingly. Always keep certified smoke and CO alarms in your kitchen as your primary safety devices.
What does "I'm here" do exactly?
It's the customer's affirmative confirmation that they're physically present and aware. When the critical-heat alert fires, you have a configurable response window (30-120s) to either tap "I'm here" on your phone OR wave at the stove (if hand-wave is enabled). Either action cancels the SMS escalation to your trusted contacts. If neither happens, contacts get notified.
